Permanent Division - The department responsible for recruiting into Permanent Office Jobs in Nottingham
 |
CHRIS PIDGEON – ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR
Having left Bradford University in 1992 (with a broad-based degree in “Technology and Management Science”), I set out on the road to a career in Accountancy with a large firm in my home-town of Nottingham. I worked with a wide variety of clients, gaining an insight into all manner of operations and companies, but ultimately (for me, at least) Accountancy lacked the vibrancy and challenge which I sought – hence my move into recruitment. In January 1994 I joined a fledgling Elizabeth Michael Associates, quickly feeling at home in a close-knit, hardworking team striving to make a name for itself in a competitive industry. Joining an organisation early in its life is an experience which will stay with me, since in those days we were comparatively unknown in the marketplace and had to fight hard for every success as we grew.
Over the subsequent years Elizabeth Michael has expanded into a force to be reckoned with in Nottingham, thanks in no small part to the committed team of individuals who make up its numbers. OK, so we may not get it exactly right all the time (almost impossible in a people-focused industry such as recruitment), but we win many friends by simply going about our business in a down-to-earth, friendly, honest manner.
I now live in Mapperley with my wife (Jenny). We are slowly refurbishing our 1920s bungalow, and are discovering that our property has a penchant for throwing up unexpected DIY problems at every turn. I am also involved in three semi-professional bands – follow these links if you are interested! www.replay-uk.com www.thegroovefoundation.co.uk and www.highlystrungguitars.co.uk
Thanks for visiting our website – we greatly value your interest. At the end of the day we are all just “normal” people doing a difficult job in a challenging industry, so if you have any comments or feedback, please do not hesitate to contact any one of the team.
Kind regards, Chris Pidgeon
LEON AYLIN – SENIOR ASSOCIATE
In the summer of 1997, I decided to apply for a position advertised in my local paper - the process though involved going into Nottingham and registering with an agency, which I duly did.
After a couple of interviews with Chris Pidgeon and John Hyde, my career in recruitment had begun.
It was certainly not something I had every considered when looking to leave school, though to be fair, it was never a profession that was ever mentioned or discussed.
I began in Marketing, which seemed the obvious place to start. It enabled me to learn and understand the many clients associated with Elizabeth Michael Associates, their individual needs and requirements, as well as the fundamentals of the industry.
By 2002, I had seen business multiply beyond all recognition, which had propelled EMA to become one of the leading Recruitment firms in the City – to that end, I felt a huge amount of personal satisfaction because in a small business, it is certainly true that you can make a difference.
It was at this time, as circumstances dictated, that I was moved into the role of Permanent Recruitment Consultant. Whilst I was still able to use the skills I had honed over the previous 5 years, it was an excellent opportunity to develop new areas and to become more involved in the actual recruitment process, rather than simply to generate it.
From a personal point of view, in 2007 I moved into my current home, a bungalow situated in a quiet village just outside Grantham and it is this, along with acre of garden, that takes up most of my spare time.
My wife Lisa, who I married in 1993, is a professional in Holistic Therapies and practices from the summer house at the foot of the garden, Jamie, my eldest, is currently finding his feet is his first job and Danny, my youngest, is a keen sportsman and competes for our local sides in both football and cricket.
As for myself, I play cricket for Croxton Kerrial CC where I have been playing since 1993, for those interested, you are welcome to visit www.croxtoncc.tk.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope that at some time I am able to help you.
Regards
Leon Aylin
SARAH RIST – ASSOCIATE
I joined Elizabeth Michael Associates in August 2007. For the first 18 years of my life, I lived in Peterborough where I gained my education, qualifications and first insights into ‘the real world’ of work. In June 2007 I gained my NVQ level 3 Supervisors qualifications and after 2 years of working in the catering industry decided I needed a change of environment.
After long consideration, I moved with my partner to Nottingham, who attends Nottingham Trent University studying for a Bachelors degree in Law, hoping to add ‘Lord’ to his name!
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, eating out, swimming (when I can), going to the movies and relaxing with some beer and some of my favourite music. I also love camping.
